Oriana Small on Triple Bill With Lydia Lunch, Jerry Stahl

LOS ANGELES—Had enough of porn star memoirs filled with regret and recriminations? That’s not what fills the pages of Girlvert: A Porno Memoir. Written by artist and author Oriana Small—better known to adult industry types as Ashley Blue, AVN’s 2004 Female Performer of the Year and star of JM Productions’ long-running Girlvert series—it’s an unapologetic, utterly entertaining tale of Small's career in porn. If you haven’t yet seen the industry through Small’s astute eye, there’s an excellent chance to do so this Saturday night, when the porn star turned author will read from Girlvert at Lethal Amounts in downtown Los Angeles for what is billed as “an evening of horribly true confessions.” Also on the bill is multi-hyphenate Lydia Lunch—singer, poet, writer, actress—and novelist/screenwriter Jerry Stahl—known for his own memoir, Permanent Midnight, which was made into a film starring Ben Stiller. In addition to “raunchy grooves” from DJ Howie Pyro, the night will feature readings not only from Small’s Girlvert but also Stahl’s The Heroin Chronicles and Bad Sex on Speed.
