Cirque du Soleil's 'Zumanity' to Perform at AVN Awards |
CHATSWORTH, Calif.—The famed Cirque du Soleil is coming to the 2013 AVN Awards. A troupe of performers from the group's Zumanity show will wow the crowd at the special 30th anniversary show with an erotic showcase. Zumanity, which is in residence at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip, debuted in 2003 and was the first adult-themed Cirque show. Billed as "the sensual side of Cirque du Soleil," it is a departure from the standard Cirque format and is intended for mature audiences only—a perfect fit for the adult entertainment industry."Our previous shows have all been family-oriented and politically correct, which is great," Cirque CEO Guy Laliberté said, "but we're human beings, we won't hide it. We're a bunch of happy campers. We like to live new experiences. Zumanity deals with some of those experiences." The AVN Awards audience will be treated to a mélange of dance, sensuality and acrobatic prowess."We're overjoyed to welcome Cirque du Soleil to the AVN Awards," AVN Media Network CEO Theo Sapoutzis said. "Zumanity is truly an incredible show, and since it's a bit more risqué, I think our audience will love it. This is a very special performance and to have it at our 30th anniversary show makes it that much more special."The AVN Awards takes place Jan. 19 at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino with hosts Asa Akira, Jesse Jane and comedian April Macie. In addition to the Zumanity performance, platinum-selling hip-hop artist Tyga will perform his chart-topping hits. To purchase tickets for the awards, click here.
