GameLink Uncovers Election Year Link Between Porn and Politics |
SAN FRANCISCO—GameLink, the adult video-on-demand platform, is keeping close tabs on the current presidential race, as the controversial topic of pornography creeps into debates, discussions and town hall meetings across America, creating dividing lines between those who support adult entertainment and those who want it strictly enforced or banned. Presidential candidates Barack Obama and Mitt Romney are fielding questions about their political positions on pornography, and while President Obama has remained fairly quiet on the subject, Republican nominee Romney has made his position clear that "fighting porn will be a top priority" and he will "vigorously crack down on the porn industry." GameLink has crunched the numbers on their user data to reveal the porn-watching habits of Americans during the 2012 election season. GameLink would like to remind our candidates of the real facts about the personal habits of their American voters, based on internal data: • The US is the top producer of adult videos, with a new title produced every 39 minutes; US consumers account for over half of all online porn revenue that services over 40 million regular customers, a third of them women • Hawaii consumes the most adult video per capita in the US, with our nation's capital Washington, D.C., close behind at #3 (with black and gay-themed movies as top sellers), while Vermont consumes the least. • Utah residents subscribe to porn sites more than anyone else in the nation. • Every second, more than 28,000 internet users watch porn and spend $3,000; 25 percent of all search engine requests are pornography-related. • During the primary elections, the #1 selling movie in Florida was Transsexual Babysitters 18. • Eight out of the top 10 pornography consuming states gave their electoral votes to Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election. "When looking at user behavior on their VOD platform, we found that the big primary states of California, New York, and Texas are the largest consumers of adult material, having consumed more than 9 million minutes of adult video so far during this election season," said GameLink executive Andrew Sullivan. See more here. As always, GameLink caters to each and every one of these American consumers’ tastes and celebrates our freedom to enjoy adult entertainment without political interference.
