Lawsuit Filed Over Porn-Obsessed Perfusionist

NEW YORK—This story has everything, including the claim that a Mount Sinai Hospital perfusionist put patients at risk of death because of his persistent use of porn while they were being operated on. The man, a Muslim, is also accused of calling a former colleague—who is suing the man and the hospital—a “dumb Jew bitch" in front of co-workers. Now, at this point you're probably asking yourself, what the fuck is a perfusionist? We didn't really know either and just figured it was a really nice-smelling drummer. We were wrong. Turns out perfusionists are, according to the New York Post, "responsible for setting up and running the sophisticated heart-and-lung machine that keeps patients alive while surgeons repair their organs." Who knew? It's a totally cool word so we'll keep using it instead of the more common "tech." At any rate, in her lawsuit the plaintiff, cardiovascular perfusionist Sandra Morris, claims that former boss and fellow cardiovascular perfusionist Ahmed Cercioglu frequently watched porn on his mobile phone while patients lay helpless a few feet away. "I once saw him watching a [video] of a woman riding a man," she says. “Another time, I saw him watching a guy [having sex with] a girl and the girl [giving the man oral sex]." Morris, who was subsequently fired from her job, allegedly "for being out of work for months on disability after a fall she suffered on the job," says everyone knew about the guy's operating room porn viewing, and claims in the lawsuit "that other perfusionists routinely joked about his behavior." She's suing Cercioglu, another supervisor and Mount Sinai for allowing a hostile workplace. If, as Morris claims, she was routinely passed over for better jobs because of her gender, and was even told by Cercioglu and the other supervisor, Lazala, "that she cannot work on [those] cases because she doesn’t have a dick," she has a good point and should win her case.
