Shinefish to Shoot Lords of Acid Video for Controversial Album |
SACRAMENTO, CA — Adult studio, Shinefish Films, has been tapped to shoot a music video for internationally known Belgian techno band, Lords of Acid. “Pop That Tooshie” will be the first single from the band’s newest album in a decade, Deep Chills. The video will add yet another porn star feather to its cap by introducing performer Alana Evans’ voice to the world as a lead vocalist on the track, instead of a lead oralist. The song was written by Praga Khan and produced by Chris Vrenna, former drummer for Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. “I was really honored to be asked to produce, direct and edit this music video for Lords of Acid,” stated Bob Sherman. “Having spent years in the music business in the 90’s, it’s very cool to be back in the mix of it again. I’m looking forward to directing two different versions of this awesome track, one of which will be very much adult in nature.” Lords of Acid burst upon the club scene in 1988 with explosive dance tracks with a decidedly sexual edge. In the early 90’s the bands released two albums titled, Lust and Voodoo U, which sold over a half million albums each of songs packed with raunchy lyrics and grinding tunage. Anjanette Astoria, CEO of Shinefish Entertainment said, “I am very pleased to be working with this legendary band and am looking forward to doing even more work with them in the future as well. This fits beautifully with our company strategy of reaching into mainstream markets. Alana Evans did a great job with her vocals and I’m looking forward to getting crazy with her and many others in this music video.” Somewhat ironically, neither the video nor the album itself may become legal entertainment for German fans, since that country has strict adult content laws, which the lyrics and the cover art on Deep Chill are likely to violate. The same album that includes a song titled “Censorship Blows,” features cover art in homage to Big Brother and the Holding Company’s 1968 release, Cheap Thrills… only way naughtier. Germany’s adult content laws may mean that the album, as it is now, be sold only to customers able to show ID proving that they are 18 years of age or older… by request. No copy of the release would be allowed on the retail sales floor for browsing. Meanwhile, “Pop That Tooshie” is enjoying international club play popularity. Street date for Deep Chills is April 10. It will be distributed by dPulse/Sony Music inGermany, SonicAngel inBelgium and Metropolis Records inNorth America.
