Abu Dhabi Cops Seize 79,000 Counterfeit Porn DVDs |
Al AIN, Abu Dhabi—Police in Al Ain, the second largest city in Abu Dhabi, have reportedly seized 79,000 pirated adult movies from a DVD shop in the city. Two Asians were arrested in an undercover sting, according to GulfNews.com. "We received information regarding the store. So we sent an undercover operative from our Criminal Investigation Department, who was able to persuade the vendors to sell him a DVD, which cost Dh20 and the transaction was recorded," said Colonel Mohammad Suhail Al Rashidi, acting director of the Al Ain Police Directorate. According to Al Rashidi, one of the suspects admitted that the prohibited content had been copied in a room in the shop for sale to “people he knew.” Al Rashidi also said that locals helped alert the police to the illegal operation, saying, “I commend the public in Al Ain for their co-operation with the police in fighting crime of any form.” None of the local news outlets indicated what sort of punishment awaits the men.
