100 Hours for Porn Hack, But It May Have been Worth It |
BALTIMORE—A 52-year-old IT admin has been sentenced to a two year suspended sentence, three years probation and 100 hours of community service for hacking into the network of his former employer, Baltimore Substance Abuse Systems, and then, when the timing was right, replacing the PowerPoint presentation of his former boss with porn. He was apparently very disgruntled at having been unceremoniously let go. Extreme Tech has a rather humorous and possibly accurate story on what might have been going through Walter Powell’s mind as he plotted his PowerPoint revenge against BSAS CEO Gregory Warren, which reportedly cost the company upwards of $80,000, though what for we do not know; perhaps therapy for the unwitting viewers of the presentation. The real question is whether it was all worth it for Powell, but in light of the fact that his revenge scenario unfolded with extreme precision, we suspect it was more than worth the sentence, which will all be over one day while the sense of satisfaction will no doubt last a lifetime.
