Larry Garland to Receive AVNâs âOâ Award for Lifetime Achievement |
BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Eldorado Trading Co. is proud to announce its CEO and founder Larry Garland will be the recipient of the 2012 AVN Lifetime Achievement Award. “When it came to naming who in the industry should be honored with the Lifetime Achievement ‘O’ Award this year, it was an easy and unanimous decision,” said Sherri L. Shaulis, senior editor of pleasure products for AVN. “Larry has not only been instrumental in the success of Eldorado, but several other businesses and sectors of the industry. It’s our honor and pleasure to recognize him—even if it’s only in a small way—to recognize him and all he has achieved for himself and the pleasure products industry.” Through the years, Eldorado has become one of the top international distributors in the adult novelty business offering more than 14,000 best selling SKUs throughout the world. As an entrepreneur and 35-year veteran of nearly all aspects of the adult novelty business,Garlandis an invaluable asset to Eldorado. He speaks as fluently about Chinese labor disputes as he does about normal PH levels in the vagina—and just about everything else in between. When the Eldorado warehouse gets busy during the holiday season, it’s not unusual to see the CEO roll up his sleeves and work the shipping line. With that type of leadership it’s easy to see why the internal workings of Eldorado revolve solely around teamwork and getting the job done—no matter what. “I’m truly honored to receive such a prestigious award from AVN,” said a humbledGarland. “I still can’t get over it—seems like just yesterday we started on the road to Eldorado.” Garlandsticks to the basics and follows the simple, guiding principle he used to transform a homespun basement business into an international pleasure products dynamo: “making sure customers get what they want in salable condition, on time, and at a fair price.” In addition to heading up Eldorado since 1974,Garlandis a board member of the Free Speech Coalition, as well as an active and vocal advocate for his local community. For the past several years, Eldorado has held fundraisers and food drives for the Community Food Share program, helping put Thanksgiving dinner on the table for thousands of Colorado families in need. Garlandlooks forward to accepting his award in person at the “O” Awards on July 8 during the AVN Novelty Expo and is planning an extremely long speech.La
